Piso Fare Again at Cebu Pacific

June 10, 2010 , Manila: Cebu Pacific announced that they have, again, their very popular Piso fare sale in all Domestic locations via twitter.

Google is now Caffeinated

Form the official blog of Google:

Today, we're announcing the completion of a new web indexing system called Caffeine. Caffeine provides 50 percent fresher results for web searches than our last index, and it's the largest collection of web content we've offered. Whether it's a news story, a blog or a forum post, you can now find links to relevant content much sooner after it is published than was possible ever before.

Some background for those of you who don't build search engines for a living like us: when you search Google, you're not searching the live web. Instead you're searching Google's index of the web which, like the list in the back of a book, helps you pinpoint exactly the information you need.

So why did we build a new search indexing system? Content on the web is blossoming. It's growing not just in size and numbers but with the advent of video, images, news and real-time updates, the average webpage is richer and more complex. In addition, people's expectations for search are higher than they used to be. Searchers want to find the latest relevant content and publishers expect to be found the instant they publish.

To keep up with the evolution of the web and to meet rising user expectations, we've built Caffeine. The image below illustrates how our old indexing system worked compared to Caffeine:

Our old index had several layers, some of which were refreshed at a faster rate than others; the main layer would update every couple of weeks. To refresh a layer of the old index, we would analyze the entire web, which meant there was a significant delay between when we found a page and made it available to you.

With Caffeine, we analyze the web in small portions and update our search index on a continuous basis, globally. As we find new pages, or new information on existing pages, we can add these straight to the index. That means you can find fresher information than ever before—no matter when or where it was published.

Caffeine lets us index web pages on an enormous scale. In fact, every second Caffeine processes hundreds of thousands of pages in parallel. If this were a pile of paper it would grow three miles taller every second. Caffeine takes up nearly 100 million gigabytes of storage in one database and adds new information at a rate of hundreds of thousands of gigabytes per day. You would need 625,000 of the largest iPods to store that much information; if these were stacked end-to-end they would go for more than 40 miles.

We've built Caffeine with the future in mind. Not only is it fresher, it's a robust foundation that makes it possible for us to build an even faster and comprehensive search engine that scales with the growth of information online, and delivers even more relevant search results to you. So stay tuned, and look for more improvements in the months to come.

In my own place

Last month, my aunt told us that there will be a housing project in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. My mom and I see the location, but, still it doesn't have any houses built but a desert -like place haha.

Anyways, the locations is under construction. A lot of tucks and workers. They're building the walls and perimeter first and then the gates then soon the houses.

Last day we take the opportunity to have one, knowing that the amount was too small these days. We go to the office and availed one, though we didn't pay it by cash, instead, a 30 years to pay loan thru PAG-IBIG. This is OK since my salary will never stop on this level and I think that we will complete this loan before or earlier than 30 years. Imagine, I'm 23. After I completed the house payments, I'm 53 haha.

I can't wait to move-in to my new crib. A lucky 7 house :) It's Block 7 lot 17, registerd on the 7th day of June :)

Google Got Background!

Just noticed that Google got background. Just click the "Change Background Image" on the bottom-left corner of the Google hompage and you'll be directed to a selection of backgrounds. Be sure to login your google account first to be able to set your background preferences. Enjoy!

Excited for Cebu Trip

Hell yeah! I really do! haha. But, what will I expect when I got to Cebu.

According to Wikipedia:

Cebu (Filipino:Sugbo) is a province in the Philippines, consisting of Cebu island and 167 surrounding islands. It is located to the east of Negros, to the west of Leyte and Bohol islands. Cebu is a long narrow island stretching 225 kilometers from north to south, surrounded by 167 neighbouring, smaller islands, which include Mactan, Bantayan, Malapascua, Olango and the Camotes Islands. Cebu has narrow coastlines, limestone plateaus and coastal plains. It also has rolling hills and rugged mountain ranges traversing the northern and southern lengths of the island. Cebu's highest mountains are over 1000 meters high.

Enough for the wordings, I really don't understand haha! I will just list my expectations on Cebu City or my to-do lists instead :D

  1. Ride the edge coaster
  2. Visit the Sto. Nino church and Magellan's cross
  3. Visit the Taoist temple
  4. Go to beach
  5. Gala mode on the city
  6. Eat their local delicacies
  7. Buy gitara
  8. Enjoy the flight
  9. take picture of the city
  10. take picture of the clouds
The edge coaster is the most popular attraction in Cebu. It is located at the rooftop part of the Crown Regency hotel (that's about 38 feet high above the ground!). I have fear of height but I will dare myself since this is the first time and hopefully not the last time I will go to Cebu.

The Sto. Nino church. I would love to see the very old and the very first symbol of Christianity on the Philippines as well as the Magellan's cross. Taoist temple also the popular tourst spot in Cebu.

Since Cebu is surrounded by ocean, we better experience the Cebu's beach water :) (maybe it's different with other ocean water in Luzon haha). The next stop is to gala the whole place. Ok  that is terrible, but yeah, I would love to explore Cebu. I would like also to buy gitara for Cris' little brother as a birthday gift. Take pictures around Cebu and my one of my many wishes in life -- to take picture of the clouds above :)

To Cebu next month

Ok, I will tell that I'm really excited on our trip to Cebu next month. This will be my first time to ride on an airplane and I'm really excited.

Last year, or I will say last November 2009 Cebu Pacific had their piso fare which means that all of the plane seats are being sold for only piso or one peso. Because of this, I together with my officemates decided to have a trip and hurriedly booked for a flight. Since this is the super lowest sale ever made on an a flight the seats runs out very quickly. Thanks that we had booked our selves.

I can't wait to experience airplanes, turbulences and other aircraft terminologies. hwahaha
